Sir:-
With reference to Foreign Office letter of the
9th instant, No. 66134/14, relative to the arrangements
concluded by His Majesty's Minister at Peking for the
supply of coal and provisions to the British Fleet in
Chinese Waters, I am commanded by My Lords Commissioners
of the Admiralty to acquaint you for the information
of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, that
Sir J. Jordan's action is considered to have materially
assisted the naval operations and they concur that it
should be approved.
